Vye Music is an online music interface where users can upload their libraries of music, stream radio music, read up on new artists and more. Vye Music considers itself "the portal that connects your computer to a world of musical love." The search tool helps users locate any artist, album or track that they could be looking for. The radio feature streams tunes that the user has indicated as liking, and it also bans artists that the user doesn't want to hear anymore. Users can not only view the details of the album that they are listening to, but they can also view the music video through the Vye Music interface as well. Vye Music also makes it easy for users to share their favorite songs or albums through their social networks. The music at Vye Music never dies, which means if a user doesn't have something queued up and ready to play, then Vye will select a song for them. Vye Music also has made it extremely easy for users to upload their entire iTunes library to the cloud so they can then "savour the music." Users can stream as many songs as they'd like- there is no limit. Users can also make a playlist so they can quickly play a series of their favorite tracks.Show more screenshots »
Vye Music was founded in 2010 by a young 17-year-old Australian teenager names Charles Allatt. Charles had a vision of a free music streaming application that was powerful, limitless and had a huge music catalog. He also wanted an application to mirror the comprehensive data that can be found in Last.fm. With this vision, he developed Vye Music. Vye Music started as an application centered around the music video, but this idea was later revisioned into the Vye Music of today. The current form of the site was developed in less than 3 months following the success of the original. Charles plans to add more functionality to the Vye Music application by making it available on mobile devices, including dedicated native applications for both Android and iPhone operating systems. The future idea for Vye Music is for users to be able to take their music with them anywhere.
Vye Music recognizes that most users are setup with their music already through iTunes. Therefore they have made it easy to upload a library from iTunes to the Vye Music platform. Then from there, users can access the added functionality that Vye Music has to offer over other music platforms such as the radio streaming capability, an endless track of tunes and artist profiles that are more comprehensive than most other sites.
Vye Music is designed using a black-colored theme and it is visually appealing. The content is easily accessed while using the Vye Music platform as well. Users don't have to login to begin using the app, but it does make sense to eventually register so one's lists and library are stored on the Vye Music cloud. The site was quick to respond and there were no bugs encountered during this trial. Overall this site offered an excellent end user experience.
Registering for Vye Music can be accomplished by going to the Vye Music homepage and then connecting to it via one's Facebook profile. Users can then begin uploading music, streaming songs or browsing through the large music catalog available on the site.
Vye Music is a free service that is supported by advertisements and banner ads located throughout the application. Premium options may be available in the future, and those would include an ad-free interface.
Vye Music is an excellent application for music lovers or for those who are looking for a more customizable and user-friendly alternative to iTunes or music radio streaming services. Users can experience new music, get music suggestions and even view the music videos when they are available. If the application was available on Android or iPhone it would be perfect!
